<description>In this episode, we show how we built a working replica of the SKALA status display — one of the most important visual interfaces of the Chernobyl reactor control computer system. This device was installed near the chief computer engineer’s workplace and showed the state of SKALA processors, peripheral devices, functional control groups, programs, and critical malfunctions. In the previous episode, we explained how the display worked. This time, we show how the replica itself was made — from the metal casing and lettering to custom indicators, electronics, LED mnemonic panels, wiring, connectors, and the original-style alarm speaker. The build is based on the real dimensions and design logic of the original SKALA display. We recreated the casing, front panel, indicator rows, electroluminescent-style mnemonic panels, and sound alarm using modern methods where necessary, while keeping the appearance and behavior as close to the original as possible. This replica was presented at the exhibition Chornobyl: 40 Years Later. A Story That Calls Us to Remember, dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, together with our SKALA console replica and RBMK reactor control panel.
