<description>In the middle of the Chernobyl Zone, deep inside the abandoned Russian Woodpecker complex, stands a vast building that once served as the brain of the Duga radar system. In this immersive exploration, we follow its corridors room by room — and use our own reconstructed floor plans to understand what once happened inside. Beyond the empty offices and decaying workshops are enormous technical halls, cooling systems, cable ducts, electrical substations, battery rooms, and spaces filled with equipment still marked “Top Secret.” At the heart of the building are the remains of Duga’s main computer center: K340A computers with their operator consoles, hardwired program cassettes, and countless circuit boards. The purpose of many pieces of equipment remains unknown. The floor plans shown throughout the video were reconstructed from measurements taken inside the building. Every room, wall, opening, and surviving piece of equipment helped restore a small part of its original layout. There is no narration in this video — only the sounds of the abandoned complex, atmospheric footage, and short on-screen notes guiding you through one of the most fascinating technological ruins of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
