https://tube.loping.net/videos/watch/ff04ec17-0f91-4341-8353-bf600511c82a In this episode, we present the full version of the 1990 archival footage filmed inside Chernobyl’s Red Forest — one of the most irradiated places on Earth. This material has rarely been seen and documents some of the earliest scientific studies of radiation-damaged trees after the 1986 accident. The footage was recorded by physicists from the Radium Institute and the Kurchatov Institute, and features Boris Petrov, Leonid Pleskachevsky, Alexander Prusakov, Konstantin Checherov, and others — people who worked inside the Sarcophagus of Unit 4 and took part in early radiation-monitoring projects. In September 1990, they visited Test Plot No. 1 of the Institute of Biology (so-called Forest of Wonders), where the first research was conducted, as well as the most affected sector of the Red Forest. There, they documented the morphoses (radiation-induced growth distortions) in young pines, spruces, and other species.
